Mexico, MO Puppy Mill Rescue Mission Part 5: Puppies, Adoptions and Updates
Posted in Doggies on 01. Dec, 2010
Daisy was our only beagle that was actually pregnant and she had 4 puppies (three little girls and a boy). They were born Wednesday night on the 24th. We did lose the smallest girl. Her foster family did everything possible to save her but it just wasn’t meant to be. This is probably the first time Daisy was surrounded by loving caring people while giving birth….for the last time. Thanks to her foster family everyone is doing great and Daisy is starting to get up and around.
Dharma (formerly known as #488) one of our Shih Tzus was suspected of being pregnant but before we could get an ultrasound done she started having seizures. Her foster mom took her to IVEC at about 5 am on Friday the 26th where she was put on IV’s. She was found to be pregnant and unfortunately due the seizures and medication they were not able to save the puppy. However Dharma is doing great and back with her foster mom.
Felicity our little Yorkie did turn out to be pregnant so she is in foster care until she has her babies. She also has been adopted and her new Mom is waiting patiently for the puppies to be born and weaned. Then it will be Felicity’s turn to get ready for her new home.
We have adoptions pending on five of of the dogs. Clarice, the little deer Chihuahua; Sunshine, a Chihuahua; Bridget, a Shih Tzu; Bella, another Shih Tzu and Snickers, a male Shih Tzu.
We had our first adoption event last Sunday at PetSmart.
We are going to have another adoption event this Saturday, Dec 4th at Pets Supplies Plus on South Emerson (http://pspindy.com/locations/locations) and then another adoption event on Sat, 12/11 and Sun 12/12.
The four rescuers (myself, Diane, Jill and Robin), along with the staff and volunteers at the Southside Animal Shelter, are very thankful this year for all the support we’ve had for the MO Dogs. Especially for all of those people who are caring for them. They all look great and will make wonderful family pets because of the care and training they are giving them.
To see more of the Missouri dogs, visit the Southside Animal Shelter and click Adoptable Dogs. The Missouri Dogs are listed with an “MO” in front of their name. Please forward this information to anyone who you think might be interested in adopting.

All of these dogs deserve the love and care that everyone is providing for them. It is amazing how much these dogs seem to smiling and you can see the love in their eyes.
The resiliency of these dogs is incredible. You would understand if they never trusted a human again considering the way they were treated! You guys have done such a great job with them, they look truly happy.
Best of wishes on the adoptions! You’re angels:)
Thanks, Kim! They are all such sweeties! I hope they all have forever homes soon!
Here is hoping all of them have safe forever homes by Christmas!
One of the best things is knowing these poor Mama dogs wont ever have to have another litter just to fill some human’s pockets.
