Missouri Puppy Mill Update: Glady’s (Now Lady) Finds Her Forever Home

Gladys, born in 2003, was one of two Cocker Spaniels we rescued from the Mexico, Missouri puppy mill at the end of October.  Gladys was one of the dogs we thought was pregnant but found out in the middle of November that she was not.

Gladys, who is quite and so well-behaved, recently found her forever home with her new parents Tyler and Kayla.  Her name is now Lady and she is enjoying the comforts of belly rubs, soft beds, and loads of hugs and kisses.  Kayla recently sent me an update and I got the approval to share her email and photos with all of you.

An email update from Kayla:

We are happy for you to share Lady’s story.  She is truly the most precious part of our lives.  She is doing very well.  We took her to the vet yesterday and are treating a couple of ear infections but expect her medication to take care of them quickly.

She finally realized her toys were there for her and she is just too cute carefully carrying them around the house.  She will bring them out of the crate with her and generally take them back in when it is time for a nap or bed.  She snores a little which is also adorable.

I attached a couple of photos from last night.  She was sleeping for a while with her head on her paws.  She got up for a few minutes then went back to napping but the second time, she really zonked out!  This was when we heard her snoring. Head over the bed and all.

Have a great day.

Kayla

This is a new photo Kayla just sent me of Lady.  You can tell that she is living the life.  Good for her.  She is such an adorable dog and will never be forced to have puppies again.

I want to thank Kayla for sharing Lady’s story and for giving her a loving home.

We still have several dogs from the rescue mission available for adoption.  If you are interested in seeing them, visit the Southside Animal Shelter’s website and click “Adoptable Dogs”.  The puppy mill dogs are listed on Petfinder.com with an “MO” in their title.

The remarkable thing is that they forgive us. We treat them badly and they lick our hands. Thank you for adopting this sweet soul. I have 2 rescue cocker’s and they both snore! LOL Merry Christmas Lady, you deserve it!

I’m so glad everything is working out for your family and Lady. It so heartwarming to hear how some of the dogs who had a rough start in life, end up with loving homes.
