Missouri Puppy Mill Update: Felicity, The Yorkie
Posted in Doggies on 05. Jan, 2011
Towards the middle of November, shortly after our return from Mexico, Missouri to rescue dogs from a puppy mill, we found out that Felicity was going to have pups. Felicity, a 5-yr old Yorkie, was one of a handful of our dogs that hadn’t been placed in a foster home yet. After sending out email alerts the day we found out she indeed was expecting, we got the news that a family had called asking to foster Felicity and was more than willing to help her through whelping. The family was also known by the staff at the Southside Animal Shelter, so there was no need to interview.
I am very happy to announce that Felicity had her pups (more info in the email below). I received an email from my friend at the Southside Animal Shelter just after she had her pups and I just couldn’t be happier. In addition, Felicity has a forever home and her new mom is just so excited and can’t wait to bring Felicity home. For now, she is still with her pups.
I received another email (actually a few) with an update on the pups and some very adorable photos. I just couldn’t wait to share these with you and to share the great news that Felicity won’t have to wait much longer to go to her new forever home. The email below was sent to me by Angela, Felicity’s foster mom. Thanks to Angela, Felicity was able to have her pups in a nice quiet home, surrounded by loving people.
The email and photos below are posted with permission from Angela.
From Angela:
We took over the fostering of “Felicity” when the veterinarian confirmed she was pregnant. She very quickly acclimated to our household, and learned where we hide all the doggie squeak toys. Every chance she gets she digs them out of the basket and carries them to her crate to hoard away. It is very cute, but our own dogs are a little confused as to why she doesn’t wish to share.
On Tuesday, December 7th she gave birth to 4 beautiful puppies. Three girls and one boy. All are growing and doing very well, we work every day at their socializing them, teaching them to come to the sound of our voices and what the world around them is all about. They are 4 weeks old now and have graduated from the whelping box to roaming around the crate with their Mom, or our kitchen floor. They have begun to explore the food dish at feeding times, and really enjoy drinking fresh water. Felicity is one of the best Mom dogs we have ever had the honor of helping. She has a forever home to go to, one that will allow her to live the life of leisure that she desires and non-stop squeaky toys to play with.
I’m sending a few photos separate that I took with my iPhone. Will keep flooding you with cute photos. Let me know if you want to stop over and see them your self.

This is the kind of story that you want to read about. Her life is now a happy life. The puppy mill owners will just open up another “factory” to pump out pups…So sad to see people go into pet stores to buy a puppy. Only creates another opening from a puppy mill breeder…
Thanks for sharing these photos Doreen, I love them!
Very happy and cute post, wonderful to read in the morning!
I’m so happy for Felicity…and I’m sure those cute puppies will be adopted quickly!
Both Felicity and the pups are way cute! I am glad she already has a home and glad that she looks to be doing great away from the puppymill.
What a happy ending for this dog and her puppies. The pups are so adorable and it must have been a great for Felicity to be surrounded my love and others to help. Great job, everyone.
Thanks for keeping everyone updated on the Mexico rescue. I’m so glad to hear that these dogs are now getting the treatment and love they deserve!
I love a happy ending! She’s so sweet!
