Little Ollie, a dachshund that was rescued, had his dental work done.  Here is the email I got from the rescue:

Ollie arrived to the vet this morning for his dental at 7:30am. I just spoke to the vet. Ollie is out of surgery and resting comfortably. Little Ollie had 12 teeth extracted. He had 12 teeth missing originally (pre-dental). The 18 teeth left look relatively good. However, 5 teeth on the bottom may need (in the future) to be extracted. There were signs of gum recession, but for now we are keeping them in. There are sutures, which will dissolve. No bleeding post op from the nasal cavity. We will continue with our antibiotics and soft food for 2 weeks.
Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers. Barb

P.S. Abby is wondering where her buddy is today!!!

Here is the video clip of all Ollie’s buddies riding along to pick him up from the vet and then Ollie with all his buddues and some photos:

GIANTMicrobes® just added some new products.  In case you are not familiar, GIANTmicrobes is a great place to go for plush and vinyl characters that resemble microbes.  When we first blogged about them we had received a line of their plush microbes that were dog-themed, like Heart Worm, Mange and Rabies.  In their new releases are Ticks.  EWWWWW!  Yeah, those things are gross, whether they are the real deal or plush!  What I love about the microbes, however, is they are a great education tool, which can be used to explain what Heart Worm is, Mange and so on.  This is flea and tick season for our pets, so this was a perfect time for them to release the Tick as one of their new plush dolls.

By the way, if you are interested in purchasing any of the GIANTmicrobes, we are affiliates.  You will find our ad on our sidebar and we give back with every purchase, which means we donate to our local rescues and shelters when you make purchase via any of our affiliate links.

Moses will soon be available on PetFinder.com.  I am so looking forward to seeing the applications for him.  I will be a part of the process every step of the way, so you can be sure that I will give everyone a thorough screening!

“Android, who is owned by Google, has available in the Android Market a new down-loadable game application for your phone called DOG WARS (developed by Kage Games LLC). This is a DOG FIGHTING GAME. The player feeds, waters, trains and FIGHTS the virtual dog for virtual money. It is clear to me that the people at Google/Android /Kage Games think dog fighting is a joke and that perpetuating the myth that pit bulls are inherently aggressive has no repercussions.”

The above is from a group on Facebook regarding an application that was just released for Android users called Dog Wars.

It is not just a video game, it is irresponsible and devastating to the animals that are victims of this abuse. The animal abusers who participate in dog fights starve, beat and train the dogs to behave aggressively to both animals and people.

Please join me in telling Google to remove this disgusting application Email: press@google.com
