Friday’s Focus:Muttville Senior Dog Rescue

Each Friday we will highlight a 501 © 3 pet charity.  We hope that in highlighting these worthy causes, it brings more awareness to their cause, donations (we hope), and the ultimate…a forever family. If you would like your charity featured here simply email us at doggiesandstuff@gmail.com.

Name of your organization: Muttville Senior Dog Rescue

Web Address: http://www.muttville.org

Mission of your organization: Muttville is a nonprofit organization dedicated to changing the way the world thinks about and treats older dogs, aged seven years and older, and to creating better lives for them through rescue, foster, adoption, and hospice.

How long has your organization been operating? Since 2007. We just celebrated our four year anniversary and our 1000th rescue. See our timeline here

Describe some of your programs:

Mutt Guardian – a monthly donation program to support the care of our dogs available for adoption (Click to read more)

Senior for Seniors Program – we pair up senior citizen humans with senior dogs and offer support for the care of their pet. (Click to read more)

Foster Program – We have approximately 40 foster homes and we match up people with a dog that fits their life style and setting as a temporary home until a dog is adopted. (Click to read more)

What is your biggest challenge?

Obtaining grants and funding for our programs and vet bills. We’d like to obtain a space that we can use as an intake location and boarding

What other information would you like my readers to know about your organization?

The City of San Francisco declared May 10th Muttville Senior Dog Rescue Day (click to read more)

Muttville is also celebrating the most amazing milestone to date…our 1000th Senior Dog Rescue (click to read more)

Dogs for adoption:

Eva: Such an adorable petite cattle dog mix! Eva is a wonderful little girl, about 8 yrs old, who was covered in ticks and years of dirt. She still seems to love everyone’s attention, baths, brushing and even pulling all those nasty ticks off her body!

Eva is playful and is fine with dogs but should be a cat free home!. She weighs about 35 pounds, she is shy with the city noises and will need some extra time to get used to new surroundings.

We are so happy to be able to save her from her harsh life and bring her a new chapter filled with cushy beds and a loving family to care for her!

Winston When we saw Winston’s sweet smile we just new we had to save him. He’s a funny 14 year old roly poly chihuahua from the Martinez shelter. The vet there deemed him unadoptable due to his age which made him a prime Muttville candidate. He had bad teeth so we gave him a dental and he’s a bit chubby so he’s on a diet but his blood test came back OK and his heart is strong so he’s a pretty healthy little guy. He does have a short muzzle like pugs and bulldogs do which causes him to snort and snore but it doesn’t affect his overall health. His foster mom finds it quite endearing and even took a video. (Click Here) How can you resist that face and not adopt Winston?!
