Review and Giveaway: M&J Dog Essentials *ENDED*

As you may know, I actively search for pet products that are healthy, not only for our pets but also for our planet.  It’s one of the reasons I started my blog.  I wanted to find those types of products for you in hopes that it would benefit your pet family, and in turn it would help keep our planet healthy.  By using these products we are making a difference in the world we live in.  Even if you don’t think it’s a big deal, just remember that everything counts.  Every bottle you recycle, every green product you and I use….it’s making a difference.  M&J Dog Essentials does more than keep my dogs clean and feeling good……their bottles are made from post-consumer recycled material and their products are made in the USA for the smallest possible carbon pawprint. These are the companies that I love highlighting.

“Holistic grooming products for your dog’s body, mind and spirit.”  That is the first thing I read when visiting M&J Dog Essentials’ website.  That statement alone made me want to learn more about them and it’s a perfect tagline for a company who truly cares about not only the way your dog looks, but also how they feel.  I know when I bathe or shower, the products I use make a difference in how I feel on the inside.  So, why wouldn’t I want my girls to feel good?  They are, after all, my family members.

Meet the M&J Dog Essential Consultants

Pssst…do you think we would get a lifetime of free grooming products

if Kiko became an honorary consultant? :giggles:

Having a holistic approach to your dog’s grooming process can help you have a happier, healthier pet.  It gives them a shiny coat and soft skin, all while removing dirt and odor, which leaves them squeaky clean and feeling great inside and out.  Using essential oils and all-natural ingredients is a must for the dynamic duo at M&J Dog Essentials.  The mother and daughter team have made grooming your dog a spa-like experience without leaving your home.  The blending of flower essence with herbal extracts and the essential oils relaxes and calms your dog.  The delicate aroma of the Purely Clean Shampoo & Conditioner is very pleasing, not overpowering at all.

I really feel like M&J Dog Essentials is one step ahead of the game.  In general, I usually see a shampoo, conditioner and then a spritz for in-between baths, to help keep your pet smelling lovely.  I admit that there are some products we have reviewed that are outstanding but M&J Dog Essentials’ products take grooming your dog a little further.  Let me explain….

Nutrient Fusion – Pre-Shampoo Treatment

The pre-bath treatment is something I have never seen before in any of the many products we’ve reviewed.  This is something new to me, so I wasn’t quite sure what to think.  However, I’m now hooked.  You massage it into your dog’s skin and wait 6-8 minutes.  For dogs with severe dryness you can leave this pre-shampoo treatment on for up to 20 minutes before shampooing.  The formula helps soothe your dog’s skin, especially if your dog suffers from dry, flaky skin.  Riley has hot spots on occasion, so this might be something that benefits her when she does have hot spots.  After using this, I now understand the way it works and why it’s beneficial.  This product alone really sets M&J Dog Essentials apart from other grooming products.  The ingredients make up a formula of vitamins A, E and D and essential fatty acids.  Let’s take a look at some of the ingredients listed and what the benefits are:

Camellia Oil

This essential fatty acid helps protect your dog from allergies and other problems of the immune system.

Cupuacu Butter

Obtained from the fruit seed of the Cupuacu tree in the Brazilian Amazon, this ingredient is highly beneficial to both skin and coat. The butter provides relief from skin irritations while moisturizing and improving coat texture.

Mango Butter

Mango is well known for its conditioning properties and can help promote cellular regeneration needed to heal wounds.

Nettle Extract

Beneficial in treating sunburn and possesses great antioxidant properties. Can even stimulate hair growth and give it a nice shine.

***************************************************************

Purely Clean – Shampoo & Conditioner

Having the shampoo and conditioner in one helps cut down bath time, making it less stressful for the dog.  I don’t know about your dogs, but my girls are not really fond of bath time.  The less time they have to spend in the tub, the better for them.  Purely Clean is made up of all-natural ingredients, and it really is a quality product.  I have used shampoo and conditioners in one before and I don’t see much of a lather.  Purely Clean not only lathers nicely, I can see and feel the difference.  I should also mention that the scent is very pleasing and lasts.  Purely Clean helps get the dirt and grime out of the skin and coat, leaving a lush, soft and clean doggy.  This product can be used on dogs that have sensitive skin.  The ingredients include plantain extract and camellia oil, both appropriate for sensitive skin. I think you will really love this product.

Honeysuckle Extract

Coming from the honeysuckle plant, this ingredient acts as a skin-clearing agent.

Plantain Extract

Plantain extract is effective for soothing and healing skin irritations.

Camellia Oil

This essential fatty acid helps protect your dog from allergies and other problems of the immune system.

***************************************************************

Show Dog Shine – Conditioning Serum

This is hands down my favorite product.  Not only does it help keep your dog’s coat smelling great and looking nice and shiny, but it also naturally repels insects and protects against the sun.  It’s a great product for in-between baths.  The difference between this product and the sprays is that you actually massage this into your dog’s skin and coat.  The formula gets worked in as you massage it, targeting the skin AND coat.

Karanja Oil

This oil, which comes from the seeds of the pongam tree, gives your dog’s coat a natural shine.

Avocado Oil

High in amino acids and vitamins, this ingredient acts as a natural sunscreen and also moisturizes dry skin.

Cupuacu Butter

Obtained from the fruit seed of the Cupuacu tree in the Brazilian Amazon, this ingredient is highly beneficial to both skin and coat. The butter provides relief from skin irritations while moisturizing and improving coat texture.

All in all I think the grooming products from M&J Dog Essentials are outstanding.  I have reviewed a number of grooming products here and these products are definitely ranked up among the highest. Each 6.76 oz. bottle will set you back $20.  If you want to sample the products they offer a travel-sized gift tote, which includes the three products above and an eco-friendly tote.

I am a Doggies and Stuff e-mail subscriber. Bozz could really use these products as he is having a horrible time with allergies! I just rescued him last fall and do not know any of his history. If Pretty, our APBT rescue puppy, is in the bathroom when I am bathing another dog, she jumps in the tub! It is really funny because she is not so fond of getting a bath but wants to be in the tub with the other dogs! :) Thank you!

I follow via email. My JRT Emily dislikes baths and shakes through the whole thing. She doesn’t dislike water though, if she finds a stream or big puddle she will pounce in it and try to bite the water that splashes up. So cute!

I definately LIKE this post. :) I also follow by email. These products really interest me. My Rory is a show dog and has been suffering from dry skin. I am looking for bathing products that will leave him clean and shiny and flakey free. He has been suffering from dry skin lately. And I hate going and buying all kinds of things, spending money on something that doesn’t help. I also love the fact that these are eco-friendly. Always a good thing.

Rory doesn’t love bath time but does go into the tub on command. And for the right treats. :) Of course you have to be really quick with the towel when bath is over if you don’t want to take a shake shower. :)

Thank you for the chance to win M&J Dog Essentials.

I LOVE entering giveaways here. My very fave things to enter to win are for my daughter and my fur children. They LOVE to get mail and I love for them to be happy. It’s a win win. Lol. I don’t get to enter as often as I would like but I sooo appreciate the chance.

I am an email subscriber. And my fur kids HATE bath time. I have a lab (Beau), a pit(Max), and a rat terrier(Huck). Huck is easy, I just pick him up and put him where I want him. Lol. Beau and Max, not so easy. AT ALL. They lay as flat as they can on the bathroom floor so I can’t pick them up. I have to pick their front legs up and get them in the tub and then do their back legs. They of course shake when we are in the shower stall together, even more so when they are good and soapy. Ugh, needless to say, it’s definitely a chore but worth it as I love them with all my heart.
