Saturday Blog Hop and Romeo The Cat Asks For Help

This has been GLOBAL RESCUE CAT WEEK, but since I am not really a cat person I just didn’t post anything related to it…that is until now. My friend Caroline over at Romeo the Cat has been working tirelessly on a new initiative.

I took this directly from her blog to give you an idea, straight from the horse’s mouth, “Since we started this blog, we’ve worked with dozens of organizations and have seen a consistent trend – many organizations wish they had the tools to create a more effective web site and social media presence.” She goes on to say, “But most organizations are short on time and budget to do all the things they want to do. And I want to help.” Boy oh boy, don’t WE all know that! Those of us in rescue certainly understand the lack of finances and resources to help them do all the things they want to. This is where volunteers come in handy. Volunteers can help with lots of things; organizing events, raising money and so on.

Caroline discovered MyShelterSite.com, which is a program offered by Rachael Ray’s Nutrish Dog Food to provide professional, social media and SEO ready website templates to rescues and shelters…FOR FREE. Whether you are a fan or not or whether you feed this food or not, the wealth of knowledge offered to help rescues and shelters is a plus and I think that no matter how we feel about the food, whether it is good or not can be debatable, but helping rescues and shelters is one thing that ALL of us can agree upon.

Caroline mentions, “The template is built on a WordPress blogging platform so is super easy to update and navigate. They also provide free hosting as well. This is a no-strings attached program!”

Caroline says, “I’ve been helping MyShelterSite.com spread the word about their generous offer and it’s inspired me to team up with a small group of other bloggers who are also passionate about animal welfare. They’ve agreed to join me in helping rescues and shelters with creating a better web presence and outreach. The team is:

Jaime from Thoughts fur Paws
Jessica from Pawcurious
Paris and John from Dogtipper and Cattipper
And, of course, my female staff and moi.”

I wasn’t asked! :o ( I would have gladly jumped on this but I didn’t know about it. :sighs: Oh well….I am happy to help them spread the word and I hope you will, too.

They are inviting rescues and shelters to submit their questions about social media, web sites and online marketing to Caroline and her staff at: caroline (at) romeothecat (dot) com.

Each week they will put their big brains against one submitted problem and publish their recommendation every Monday.

So tell your favorite rescues and shelters to submit their questions and they will help. They hope this can help more organizations gather ideas, tools and solutions to help them help more pets.
