Safe Paw Melts, Keeping Pets Safe this Winter

I hate to bring up that word-WINTER-but it is coming upon us quickly.  One of the things that makes me very nervous about winter is snow.  While I enjoy snow, and the girls certainly love playing in it, having to put salt down to make it easier for me to get to my car is not ideal for our pet’s paws.  So, when I received the press release below towards the end of the summer, I was jumping for joy that FINALLY there was a product that would do the job of clearing a path for us to get to our cars, without harming the girls’ paws.

While I haven’t personally had the chance yet to test the product out (I will at some point and will do another blog post about it), I did want to get this information out to you in case the need arises for you to need a product like this.

If you do happen upon this product and want to send me information about how the product worked for you, I will be sure to include it in my blog post.

Safe Paw Melts Away Ice Without Harming Children and Pets

RICHBORO, PA (AUGUST 10, 2011) – Parents, pet owners and government municipalities across the U.S. have found a non-harmful way to protect their wintery walkways with Safe Paw, the first and only brand trusted for 15 years by consumers as a completely safe ice melter for pets and children.

Safe Paw was developed in1996 to reach a growing demand: consumers concerned with finding a true environmentally sound pet and child safe ice melter. As the years have gone on, others have tried to sell “safe” melting products, but their claims are false and they are not completely pet and child safe, as Safe Paw is.

“In 1994, the buzz word became environmental safety. Customers began asking us for an ice melter that was not only environmentally safe, but guaranteed to be safe around children and pets at the same time. Although Safe Paw is used around the home and in the pet market, it’s also used by cruise ships, the U.S. government in the National Complex in Washington, D.C., the New Jersey and Chicago Transit systems, Helipads and many dog parks and zoos throughout the U.S.,” said Steven Greenwald, founder of Safe Paw.

Today, over 2 million Safe Paw products are sold each year. As a socially committed company, Safe Paw also employs 150 people at Shadowfax to manufacture all of its products. Shadowfax is an NGO that assists developmentally disadvantaged people who might not otherwise have work.

Dora Serroukas, owner of www.onlinepetdepot.com, sells Safe Paw to about 7,000 customers.

“The customers really like that it’s safe, works well, doesn’t stain their walkways and comes in buckets instead of bags so it’s easier for people to handle,” Serroukas said.

About Safe Paw: Safe Paw was created in 1996 to reach consumers concerned with finding a pet and child safe ice melter with non-harmful ingredients. Safe Paw is the only established national brand of a pet and child safe ice melter. It has received the Parent Tested Parent Approved Seal of Approval and is recommended and used by most veterinarians throughout the U.S. Safe Paw was honored in the 2011 “Whole Green Earth Catalogue” and has been awarded the “Green Seal” by the Parents Advisory Council. Safe Paw is sold at most major pet stores including PetSmart and at many online stores, grocery shops and national retail chains including Costco.

I bought this at Petsmart a few times last winter. It does NOT work. It just sits on top of the ice and snow and does nothing. I believe Walmart sells salt that is safe for pets. It is cheaper and works better. Do not bother with this, and it is expensive!

I am sorry you have had this problem. It doesn’t make sense that if it didn’t work you bought it a few times. Really, I am surprised. Safe Paw has been repeatedly tested and has been used all over the world by not just retail consumers, but military and government, industrial, and municipal groups for 15 years with no complaints. We usually hear is works much better than others, and it lasts for 3 days. No salt is safe for pets, and the stuff at Walmart, is dangerous to pets and the environment, just read the back warning labels. Safe Paw works down to -2°F, the others 10 to 15 deg.F. It makes me wonder, who do you work for?
