What Would You Do?

Can you imagine what it would be like to lose everything in a fire just three weeks before Christmas?  Well, someone here in our Doggies and Stuff community knows exactly what this feels like.

Luckily Sandy, Shiloh (her furkid) and her goats are fine but the devastation that everything is gone now has turned their world upside down.  I saw the report from the Fire Department, at the moment they strongly suggest electrical, and I’ve seen the photos (some below) and my heart aches for them both.  In addition to losing everything in the fire, Sandy worked out of her home as a pet sitter – so her job is gone now, too.

Sandy and Shiloh are staying at a hotel and she is traveling home each day to feed the goats, which isn’t cheap because they put her in a hotel that is not close to home.  Insurance will eventually help with the rebuild but she needs help right now.  So, I am going out on a limb here and asking my readers for help.  If there is anything you can give; $1, $2, $5, $10, $25 or more, Sandy could really use the help.  Even if you want to send food, dog food, treats – anything, I know that Sandy would very much appreciate it.

Sandy gave me permission to post this information -

You can send checks or money orders to:

Sandy Danes
P.O. Box 542
Pleasant View, TN 37146

She will be at the hotel for a while, so you can also send to her there:

Sandy Danes
Mainstay Suites
Room 105
115 Fairbrook Place
Clarksville, TN 37043

OR

You can send money via PayPal.  Her email address: shiloh_acres@yahoo.com

In the spirit of giving, and because it is so close to the holidays, I hope you will reach out to Sandy and offer help.

I urge you to share this with your friends, family, co-workers – on Facebook, in an email, by tweeting – ANY help you can give would be so appreciated!

Thank you,

Doreen and The Gang @doggiesandstuff

Very tragic. We are thankful that lives were spared. I just can’t imagine how horrible this is for them. Coco and I will be sure to send our pal Shiloh treats and toys, so that he can have a little happiness in the middle of all this.

  2. Oh, this just breaks our heart. We are glad you are letting us know because I know blogville rocks and we all come together when one of our friends (fur-ends) needs our help. We get some stuffs gathered up and send to them as well. Sniffs, The HoundDogs

Olga and Aksel send their love and will make a donation for Sandy and the critters. So sad, but thankfully everyone is ok.

  4. My heart just breaks for Sandy and Shiloh. I can’t even imagine what she has to be going through.

I just send some money through PayPal…wish I could do more.

I contacted someone I know about seeing if maybe he can send Shiloh some doggie bones and treats or something.

Shiloh is just EXQUISITE. My heart breaks for them.

I also tweeted this will probably post on Facebook too.

I actually live in the Clarksville, TN area. Do you know what Shiloh is eating or what treats she likes? I’d like to get Shiloh the things she is used to, to possibly bring some sense of “normalcy” back into her life during this time. Also, if Sandy is okay with it, I’d love to contact her directly and possibly get a list of things she’s needing the most right now and I could bring them to her since I’m local.

I also reposted this on my Facebook as a lot of my friends are local, too, and can hopefully pull in some help for this family.

Thanks, Doreen! I’ve spoken with Sandy and hopefully we’ll be able to get together in the next few days. I can’t imagine going through what she is, especially so close to the holidays. If for no other reason, this is the perfect time of year to really reach out to someone that needs it – I know that Sandy (and Shiloh!) could really use all the help they can get right now and would really appreciate even the smallest of gestures!

  8. Oh Doreen, thank you for posting this. I noticed Sandy hadn’t been posting on our blog and i was wondering where she went. I am going to post Sandy’s story on our blog too, if you don’t mind. Sandy, Shiloh and the goats brighten my day so often and I am just devastated for them. We are sending her something via PayPal right now.

Thank you! I know she frequents some other blogs but wasn’t sure which ones. When I heard about the fire I immediately sprung into action and told her that I really wanted to post about it. She was hesitant. I know that it is sometimes hard to ask for help. However, the pet blogging community is a family and I knew help would come. Yes-you may post her story. Thank you again! ~Doreen

      • I know that she is a reader @ Peggy”s Pet Place (who I know saw my post), as well as All Things Dog, and actually a lot of others. She’s one of those fabulous community members who I noticed posting all over the place. The sens eo f community in the dog blogging genre is one of the things that has always amazed/impressed/awed me the most and I am so glad she allowed you to share her story. ♥ Thank You
