Castor & Pollux’s Heel Cancer

Inspired by the story of child cancer survivor Chase Caspersen and his cousin’s dog, Bentley, Castor & Pollux came up with a campaign that will raise awareness and funding for children’s and canine cancer research: Heel Cancer (http://www.heelcancer.org/)

Bentley is an above average Great Dane, who is actually in contention for the Guinness Book of World Records “Tallest Dog” category. He has already earned the “World’s longest tail” title, and will also soon be recognized as the “World’s Tallest Therapy Dog.” The campaign will consist of Bentley traveling around the country, making stops in many cities. In each city, he will visit one or two children’s hospitals, as well as do a few in-store events. The in‐store events will include a photo opportunity for customers, prizes, and the distribution of information about the campaign. In many of our tour stops, we have seen great media interest, and Bentley is already a pro in front of the camera.

In addition to the tour, every time someone buys an ORGANIX® product at PetSmart® (including cans, treats, and dry), $0.10 from the purchase will be donated to CureSearch for Children’s Cancer and the National Canine Cancer Foundation. Castor & Pollux have committed to a minimum donation of $25,000 to each foundation by the end of 2012!

Bentley will be traveling around the country promoting the cause throughout the rest of the year. He has already had stops in Phoenix, Omaha, Pittsburgh, Washington DC, Los Angeles and San Diego. The remainder of the year, he will be traveling to:
