National Fire Prevention Month – Help Us Help First Responders: Wag’N O2 Fur Life®

No one knows exactly how many pets perish from smoke inhalation in house fires each year, but it is estimated that the number is about 150,000.  While humans try to escape the fire, pets instinctively look for a place to hide, which turns out to be fatal for them.  Even if emergency responders get your pet(s) out, they cannot revive them without a pet oxygen mask.

Pet Oxygen Masks can resuscitate animals suffering from smoke inhalation. These cone-shaped masks can be used both on conscious pets that have suffered from smoke inhalation and pets that need to be resuscitated after losing consciousness as a result of their exposure to the dangerous toxic fumes. The Pet Oxygen Masks can be used on dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, even birds and they are the perfect solution for emergency responders.

Unfortunately, most municipalities don’t allow their first responders (police, fire departments, EMS) to purchase equipment for non-human life support.  With that said, I encourage you to support your local Fire/EMS and Police Departments with donations to help them acquire such necessary equipment.  This is very easy to do and very important!  Imagine the lives that could be saved if each emergency responder had a Pet Oxygen Mask.

The Wag’N O2 Fur Life® Kit includes:

  • 3 Oxygen Masks – 1 small, 1 medium & 1 large

Help Us Give Back!

Our friends at Retro Betty’s is very excited to be able to step in and help their Pittsboro Fire Departments and Doggies and Stuff wants to help our local Fire Departments, too.  Retro Betty’s will be donating a set (S, M & L) for each of the Pittsboro Fire Department trucks for every 500 Facebook fans they get.  We are going to do the same.  For each 500 fans we get on Facebook, we will donate a set (S, M & L) Pet Oxygen Mask Kits to one of our local Fire Departments.  We will do the same for every 500 followers we get on Twitter.

Both Retro Betty’s and Doggies and Stuff will each choose a new fire department each quarter and supply them with the amount of masks needed.  If you’d like, go to the “Betty Gives Back” tab on their website to submit a fire department in need.
