December Pet Shop Puppies Rallies

Those of you who have followed Doggies and Stuff for a while know how passionate I am about puppy mills.  I was even on a rescue mission back in 2010 and have a tab for all the posts pertaining to that rescue HERE.  While making people aware of pet shop puppies all year round is important, December is even more important.  More puppies are sold over the holidays than any other time of the year.  Kids want puppies, so their parents think it is a good idea to head over to a pet store that “sells” puppies, instead of thinking about where those puppies are coming from.

Each time a puppy is “sold” from a pet store, it makes room for another one and another one and another one.  What people might not know is that the suppliers of these puppies is not a local “reputable breeder”.  Instead, they are coming from puppy mills where their parents are living in deplorable conditions, with no medical care, filthy and tiny cages that hardly give them any room to move.  They never receive a walk in the grass, nor are they ever petted by loving hands.  They don’t know how to play with toys and they don’t know what love is – they never will.  Instead, they are forced to crank out as many puppies as they can get out of them and when they can no longer breed, they are murdered.  This is not a joke – this is real life.  I know – I have seen it.

If you have a local group that holds rallies – I urge you to get involved and to show up and show your support.  Sure it’s cold outside, but a couple of hours standing in the cold and holding a sign is nothing compared to what these poor dogs go through every single day.  If you do not have any groups that organize these types of rallies in your area I encourage you to start one.

Please join me in making it very clear to stores like Uncle Bill’s Pet Centers that we will not tolerate their purchasing of puppies from puppy mill farms.

Uncle Bill’s will never “admit” to where their puppies come from but ask yourself this, “Would a reputable breeder sell their puppies to a pet store?”  The answer is NO, they would not.  Tell places like Uncle Bill’s Pet Centers that working with rescues and shelters is the way to go and that selling puppies from puppy mills is a dirty business.  They are contributing to the suffering and abuse of dogs!

Please help us end the cycle of suffering and encourage adoption!

How do I find out if there is any in my state? Can Google, but don’t know where to start for Missouri.
