John Paul Jones DeJoria is widely known as co-founder of the award-winning line of hair products known as Paul Mitchell®. Paul Mitchell was the first hair care brand to publicly oppose animal testing, so it didn’t surprise me at all when he created John Paul Pet™, a line of pet products that includes botanically enriched shampoos, conditioners and hygienic pet wipes.
John Paul Pet provides pet care with a salon pedigree. John Paul Pet products are solution-based products for your dog created to address the most common grooming needs:
- Unpleasant breath
- Tear stains
- Dirt and dander
- Build-up around eyes and ears
- Dry, itchy, flaky skin and coats
I was quick to jump on an offer to work with John Paul Pet because I have used Paul Mitchell products and if they are any indication of what the pet products are like, my girls are going to get spa-like treatments in the comfort of their own home. I don’t know about your pets but mine do not like going to the groomer; Millie especially has difficulty with grooming, especially if she has to leave the house. The entire experience for her is stressful, so being able to groom at home with quality products makes it a good experience for her.
There are a number of John Paul Pet products available. Not only do they have products that cater to dogs, but they also have a line of products for cats and horses.
The packages for dogs include the following:
I received the Pet Care 3-Pack because Millie and Kiko both have dry, sensitive skin. The Pet Care 3-Pack contains Oatmeal Shampoo and Oatmeal Conditioning Spray, as well as Ear & Eye Wipes.
Oatmeal protects the skin from irritants and helps soothe skin that’s itchy, painful, inflamed or irritated.
John Paul Pet Oatmeal Shampoo not only helps thoroughly clean, it moisturizes and deodorizes. I could really feel the moisturizing properties of the Aloe Vera Gel when putting the shampoo in my hands. It lathers up really well and you can really smell the Sweet Almond Oil, which is heavenly!
The Oatmeal Conditioning Spray is a Leave-In conditioner, which can be used on dry or damp hair. This is a great product for in-between baths and is one of my favorite grooming products now. I noticed a BIG difference in the way the girls smelled and how shiny their coats looked after brushing the conditioner through their coats. Not only did it help with conditioning, it detangles the coat, making it much easier to brush. Riley has a really thick coat around her neck area, which can be very hard to brush. I found it much easier after using the Oatmeal Conditioning Spray.
John Paul Pet Ear & Eye Wipes contain; Aloe Vera to soothe and hydrate, sodium chloride (sea water) as a biodegradable, gentle astringent and Boric Acid as a mild, biodegradable antiseptic. Kiko has entropian, which means a portion of the eyelid is inverted or folded, causing the lashes or hair around the eye to irritate the eyes. Kiko’s isn’t really bad; if it were I would have opted for surgery. If it gets to the point where she will need surgery, I will have no problem moving forward with that option. The Ear & Eye Wipes are gentle and help clean the gunk out of her eyes, while soothing and hydrating. Millie has allergies, so this is the time of year when her eyes water and are irritated. Having the Ear & Eye Wipes handy makes it easy to clean her eyes without irritating them; they are also very gentle on her eyes. The wipes are specially formulated to remove tear stains and bacteria.
The products I received are every bit as luxurious and high quality as the line of Paul Mitchell hair care products. I feel as though my dogs are receiving a spa-like grooming treatment in the comfort of their own home, which makes it easier for them and for me.
John Paul Pet gets 4 paws up from me for not only developing A+ pet products, but also for staying true to being cruelty free and for continuing to support rescues, shelters and animal welfare organizations.
