Piña Colada Honey Twist Frozen Dog Treats

Summer is upon us, which means time for freezy dog treats!  In order to give you a variety of not only frozen dog treats, but all sorts of tasty noms for your pooch, I am joining in on the Tasty Tuesday blog hop by our pals Kol’s Notes and Sugar the Golden Retriever.  Both of these blogs have talented humans behind the scenes, who make some of the yummiest dog treats around.  Their social media links are at the end of the post.  Please do visit and tell them Doggies and Stuff sent you!

Piña Colada Honey Twist

1/3 C. Fresh Pineapple

1 TBSP Local Honey

1/2 C. Low-Fat or Fat-Free Plain Organic Yogurt

1 TBSP Unsweetened Shredded Organic Coconut (I use Tropical Traditions)

I used two trays, so the recipe amount depends on what type of tray you have or how many you are using.

In a blender, mix the fresh Pineapple and Yogurt until blended.  Fill the tray half way with the Pineapple/Yogurt blend and place in the freezer for 30 minutes, or until the mixture is solid.

Add just enough Honey to just barely cover the frozen Pineapple/Yogurt blend.  Sprinkle the Shredded Coconut (you can use Coconut Flakes if you don’t have the Shredded Coconut) over the honey and put back in the freezer overnight.

Place another layer of the Pineapple/Yogurt Blend on top of the Honey and Shredded Coconut and put back in the freezer for 30 minutes, or until it’s solid.

That’s it!  Now, you can certainly make this much easier by blending ALL the ingredients, filling your trays, freezing and serving!  However, if you are like me and just want to take some time making your dogs a special treat, use the step-by-step recipe above.  I know some have time constraints due to jobs, etc., so blending the ingredients together is perfectly fine!

I hope your dogs enjoy the Piña Colada Honey Twist treats!

  1. You know what they say about great minds right? Well, we already know my dogs ADORE these, so I whole heartedly recommend them to anyone else looking to spoil their dog. No lie, I’ve been known to pop a couple in my mouth when I’m looking for a cool treat…

  2. These look so tasty! When it finally starts to warm up here, I will definitely make some for Luna. We also wrote about coconut treats on our blog today, but yours are better because they are homemade!

  3. Jan Keefe says:

I can’t wait for it to get hot here, so we can try these awesome frozen treats! I was going to say they sounded like something that I would like myself, so I was glad to see Jodi say that above about eating them!
Thanks for the shortcut directions too…sometimes time is an issue for me, and keeps me from making all the homemade treats I’d like to for the dogs.
