The benefits of giving oatmeal to your dogs is it provides a good amount of Magnesium, Iron, Zinc and several B Vitamins. It is also high in soluble fiber and can lower cholesterol. I blogged about this back in May; who would have thought that just as I was blogging about the benefits, Wexford Farms Pet Food LLC was releasing their very own oatmeal-based food topping?
Introducing Warm Ups™, a dog food enhancer made with oatmeal and combined with all natural ingredients, essential vitamins and minerals! You simply add hot water to the dry mixture, mix, wait for it to cool to a warm temp and serve.
There are 4 Warm Ups formulas, each with their own benefits:
Original Recipe – For dogs with normal activity levels. The Original formula contains Iron, Choline, Folic Acid and Vitamin B12 and supports a healthy heart, energy and more.
Skin & Coat – For dogs that have dry skin and dull coats. The Skin & Coat formula contains Omega-3 Fatty Acids, Vitamins B6 and B2 and Zinc. It helps support skin and coat health by including those nutrients to support healthy skin and coat.
Healthy Joints – For senior dogs and and dogs that need joint support. The Healthy Joints formula contains Glucosamine and Chondroitin, which supports healthy joint function.
Fit & Active – For active doggies. The Fit & Active formula contains Niacin and Vitamins A, D and E, which helps support dogs with high activity levels.

I’ve given the girls oatmeal in between meals and as a topping for their kibble. Warm Ups encourages using their product in the same ways but they have a few other suggestions:
Blahs*: When your dog isn’t feeling well and has the blahs they usually have a loss of appetite. Give your dog Warm Ups! The smell of the oatmeal will entice them to eat.
Cover it up: Medicine – YUCK! My mother used to crush up my medication in a spoon and put a little juice or something on it before I would take it, so I understand why dogs don’t want to take their medications. So, I have to “cover it up”, meaning – I have to cover the medicine with something before the girls will take it! Warm Ups is a a great way to cover up your dog’s medicine! Your dog will be able to get it down without getting the icky taste!
Slumber Parties: I personally do not board my dogs when I go out of town. Luckily, my parents are not far from here and my girls love going over there – it’s like their second home. Some dogs, however, are boarded when their parents go out of town and might not feel like eating. Put some Warm Ups in their overnight bag and it may entice them to eat while you are away.
Snacks*: We all snack during the day, whether we grab some chips or fruit or in my case, a bowl of cereal! The girls get treats but some days I reduce the amount of treats I give them and give them oatmeal in between! Now that I have discovered Warm Ups, they have been getting that in between their meals a couple times a week.
I, for one, am thrilled to have found Warm Ups and the girls love them! I found them at Pets Supply Plus last week when I stopped by for something else but you can purchase them at a number of pet stores and online. Visit their “Where to Buy” page to find a location near you.
Warm Ups cost around $1.79 per, give or take a few cents, and are made right here in the USA! The container is recyclable – so do the planet some good and recycle!
WIN IT: One (1) winner will receive a case (12 containers) of Warm Ups in a variety of flavors!
