It’s about 1pm and you are just sitting down to write a blog post.  It’s hot outside, the dogs are waking up from naps and start roughhousing.  What can one do to keep their dogs busy, so you can concentrate on writing?  I think it’s time for an afternoon snack; one that will keep them busy for a while.  You reach in the freezer and there they are – three frozen Kongs that you made this morning!

Have you tried freezing your stuffed Kongs?  It will keep them busy for a while and they get to enjoy a cool treat.  There are dozens of recipes you could use.  I will share some of our Frozen Kong recipes throughout the summer for you.  If you would like to share your recipes, please feel free to post in the comment section below.

First – use a shot glass to hold the Kong for you while you stuff it.  It will keep the Kong still for you.  You can even put it in the freezer this way, so it doesn’t tip over.

The Kong we stuffed today contained…..

Unsalted, Dry Roasted Peanuts!  The first ingredient that I stuffed way down in the bottom were peanuts.  Once I fully covered the bottom with peanuts, I scooped in some Low-Fat, Vanilla Yogurt.  The next layer contained Barbara’s Organic Honest O’s, which are like Cheerio’s.  I added some peanut butter, some small pieces of Strawberry, a little more yogurt and top with a piece of Strawberry.  NOMS!

I’ve never tried freezing it but that is a brilliant idea! I’m gonna give this a try today. I know my pup will have fun with this!
