Welcome to Doggies and Stuff!

Hi!  My name is Doreen and I am the Owner/Publisher of my personal blog – Doggies and Stuff. Up until October 31, 2012, I was employed full-time as an Administrative Assistant for several Research Scientists. My position was eliminated after 6 years. At the moment, I am job hunting and also working on continuing to make Doggies and Stuff successful.

I have been around dogs my entire life and have been a supporter of “green” pet products to keep our pets safe and our planet healthy for years.  I was invited to appear on WISH-TV’s Indy Style program in the Spring of 2011 to talk about how easy it is to go green with your pets.  HERE you can see an article I wrote for the 2010 Sept/Oct issue of FIDO Friendly magazine.  My Green Tips were featured in their 2010 Holiday issue.  I am available for speaking engagements on green pet products and am often asked to give pet owners advice on how to go green with their pets.

While Doggies and Stuff is mainly about dog products, and making sure your dogs live healthier lifestyles, I am also concerned about misinformation about pit bulls and the horrors of puppy mills.  These are areas I feel need to be addressed over and over again until we see an end to puppy mills, BSL (Breed Specific Legislation) and dog fighting.  Occasionally, you will see posts about these subjects.

I have had many fun blogging opportunities; I have to say that my favorite campaign opportunity was when I had the pleasure of interviewing one of my favorite people in the world – Queen Latifah.  She is truly and inspiration and loves dogs.  I was contacted about helping out with a campaign she was involved in and was offered an opportunity to fly to New York to interview her.  However,  I asked if I could interview her via skype and if they would instead donate the money they were to use for my travel to pet shelters that were affected by Hurricane Irene that year.  While I would have LOVED to have met Queen Latifah in person, I was thrilled they accepted my offer to help shelters and allow me to interview her via skype.

I am a proud pet mom of little Kiko (3 years old), Millie (9 years old), and Riley Elizabeth (8 years old).   They are my pet product testers!  We prefer products made right here in the USA but we have reviewed products made from our pals in Canada and the UK.

I strongly believe in giving back, so I donate all pet beds we review to local no-kill shelters, rescues, or local foster programs.
